Chairmans November Message

The Chairman’s Message November

The green is closed and the bowling may be over but the task of maintaining the facilities and planning for the 2015 season is well and truly underway.
The end of season work on the green by Andrew Church and his team has commenced. The green maintenance is a significant financial output and we have every confidence that this investment will result in the green being in good condition throughout the summer months.
The committee agreed that the main areas around the green that needed attention were the boards and flagging. Both projects are underway.
A big thank you to those who attended the Awards Evening in October. The night was a success and nearly £400 was raised for club funds.
That brings me to our next club social night which is on Saturday 22nd November. It is something a little different. The well known and popular local entertainer Ken Waters has been booked. Ken is a regular artist on the local pub and club circuit and he is often performing at The Hop Vine (Burscough), The Wheatsheaf (Croston), The Legh Arms (Mere Brow) amongst many other top hostelries. Ken is famed for his singing and guitar playing as well as throwing in the odd amusing story. Ken specialises in 60’s and 70’s music and he will play the hits from these decades. Ken is big fan of the Merseybeat so expect the Beatles etc. There will also be Pie and Peas with Gateaux to follow served at the break. Tickets are on sale at just £5 with all proceeds going to club funds.
Please come and support us on what is going to be a fun evening with a raffle and a short quiz. Ken has very kindly given up his fee and he will be performing for free.
Tickets can be purchased from George on 07977500131 or me on 07761733024 or reply to this email clearly stating how many tickets you require.
