NEWSLETTER – february 2023

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Members are reminded that the Club’s Annual General Meeting will take place at the Churchtown Conservative Club on Monday 20th February, starting at 8.00 pm.

COMMITTEE VACANCY

We are still looking for a volunteer or volunteers to help out with maintenance work and projects at the club. This could involve joining the Committee as Project Manager or being part of a team of people forming a sub-committee to undertake jobs as and when required. For more information, or if interested, please speak to Chris Harding or George Hitchmough.

AWARDS EVENING

The final proceeds for the Awards Evening came to £270.15. Thanks again to everyone who supported the event.

COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE

In previous newsletters we have asked if any members would be interested in joining a newly formed Competitions Committee. This would involve assisting with the running of our club competitions and having the opportunity to input ideas into the running of our club events.

Many thanks to Debbie Barnes, Darren Edgerley and Noreen Lewis for expressing interest and they will join Mike Milne in forming this committee for the 2023 season. If anyone has any ideas or comments regarding our club competitions and events, please speak to Debbie, Darren, Noreen or Mike.

CLUB COMPETITIONS

CORONATION CUP – SINGLES HANDICAP

As in the previous three seasons, we are going to run the Coronation Cup singles handicap on the basis of players arranging their own games. We see this as providing an alternative format to all our other club competitions and hope that it encourages participation from those who prefer not to play multiple games on one day.

Entries for this competition will be taken once the AGM has taken place and the draw will be made and published before the green opens.

EARLY SEASON COMPETITONS

Saturday 8th April – Spring Pairs – random doubles with plate (12.00 pm start)

Sunday 23rd April – Rose Bowl – singles handicap with plate (12.00 pm start)

Further details of our other club competitions will be available at the AGM. Please watch out for information on the website and in future newsletters and emails.

BCGBA & LANCASHIRE COUNTY CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION
