COMPETITION NEWS 7 – ROSE BOWL REPORT

ROSE BOWL

The Club’s programme of competitions continued on Sunday when members competed for the Rose Bowl.

In the top half of the draw, Len Southworth reached the final with four good wins against Mark Rowlinson (21-16), Dave Bedford (21-13), Fergal Wright (21-19) and in the semi-final, Janice Hobson (21-14). Len’s final opponent was John Unsworth, who having won the first pairs competition of the season, continued his good form with wins against Derek Wignall (21-6), Noel Morgans (21-12), Darren Edgerley (21-10) and Chris Lancaster (21-11). The final was close all the way through but it was Len who got over the line with a 21-19 win. Congratulations to Len on his first competition win at the Hesketh Arms.

LEN SOUTHWORTH ROSE BOWL WINNER

A plate competition was held for those knocked out in the 1st Round and this was won by Alex Rimmer with a 15-11 win against Dave White in the final. Losing plate semi-finalists were Jim Howard and Roger Van Beever.

CORONATION CUP UPDATE

The Coronation Cup has progressed on schedule and the quarter-final line-up is as follows :-

Quarter-Finals – games to be played by the end of May

SPRING PAIRS – SUNDAY 16th MAY

Entries are still being taken for the Spring Pairs, which will take place on Sunday 16th May. To book a place, please contact Mike Milne (michaelmilne66@outlook.com / 07752352065) as soon as possible. This is a random pairs with plate (pairings to be drawn on the day), starting at 12 noon. Please register by 11.45 am to allow for a prompt start.
