CLUB HANDICAPS

Mainly for the benefit of new members, please see below an outline of the Club’s system of handicapping players for our internal singles handicaps :-

From the start of the 2018 season, the Club adopted a new system of handicapping for the Club’s singles competitions. This is based on the principle that all players start with a standard handicap on joining the Club and thereafter the handicap is only changed as a result of performances in the Club’s singles handicaps. No subjective judgement is made on a player’s bowling ability.

The standard handicaps used are :-

Ladies, Social Bowlers & Novices :-             +6

Male League Bowlers :-                                +4

Any player winning a handicapped singles event will be deducted 2 points from their handicap.

There will be no lower limit to the handicap but only the previous three seasons and the current season will be taken into account. Thus, after three years have elapsed since a handicap win, 2 points are put back onto that player’s handicap.

Over time, this should prove to be a fair system and accurately reflect an individual’s current and recent performance levels.

A detailed explanation of the 2022 handicaps will be displayed at the Club but based on the system outlined above, the handicaps for this season will be :-

Scratch :                Jim Halsall ; Chris Porter

+2 :                         Kez Adams ; Bill Bloor ; Terry Corfield ; Wayne Graham ;

  Pat McArthur ; Mike Milne ; Len Southworth ; Fergal Wright

+4 :                         Sue Andersen and male league bowlers not listed above.

+6 :                         All female bowlers not already listed, male social bowlers and novices.
