LANCASHIRE COUNTY

Congratulations to Vultures player Liam Gregson on being selected to play for Lancashire in their June BCGBA County Championship fixture against North Midlands. Liam played in the home leg, which was held at Bellingham Bowling Club in Wigan and won his game 21-13.

SOUTHPORT FEDERATION

Although the Southport team did not have a league fixture in May, they did take part in the deferred Champion of Champions event, held over from 2021, which they had qualified for by winning their division last season.

They were placed in a group with Preston and Leeds, with the games being played at Tarleton Bowling Club. This competition is for teams of eight and Kez Adams, Andy Draper, Darren Edgerley, Chris Porter and Fergal Wright from the Hesketh Arms all took part. The first game against Preston resulted in a 6-2 defeat, despite a 21-18 win for Fergal. In the second game, against last season’s 1st Division Champions, Southport narrowly lost by 11 chalks against a strong Leeds side. Leeds went through to the final where they were defeated by just two chalks against South Lancashire.

The team’s next league fixture will take place on Sunday 26th June, when they take on Eccles. Details of the team selection and venues will be posted nearer the time.
