Rose Bowl Competition results

The first club competition of the season was played for on Sunday 17th April and the fine early season weather and improved condition of the green attracted an entry of 34 players to compete for “The Rose Bowl”, which is a record for recent times. It was pleasing to see all the Club’s teams represented and also to see 14 of our lady members taking part.
After some close games in the early rounds, the semi-finals were contested between Richard Rawcliffe and Darren Edgerley and Jim Finnimore and Bill Nowell. In the first of these semi-finals, Darren was able to overcome a four chalk handicap to win 21-14. The second semi-final was a closer affair, with Bill Nowell eventually going through to the final with a 21-17 victory.
The final produced some excellent bowling with the result in doubt until the last couple of ends. It was Darren, however, who was able to maintain his fine form in the closing ends of the game to win the 2011 Rose Bowl with a 21-17 win
